Did you know…

• For every one garbage can of waste put out at the curb, 70 garbage cans of waste
  were produced upstream to make the junk in that one garbage can.
• Since 1980, we have consumed one-third of the planet’s natural resources.
• If everybody consumed at the rate of Canadians, we would need four planets to sustain us.

That’s why YREA published a booklet and created a workshop to help educate consumers about their day-to-day purchasing decisions. From paper and cleaning supplies to batteries and clothing, SHOP provides guidance on how to green your shopping choices. SHOP workshops have been presented to students at schools and conferences and employees at their workplaces.

We have reached over 45,000 people through our outreach activities and publication. Used as teaching tool at the Kortright Centre, Milne Park, Swan Lake and Sibbald Point outdoor education centres, ESL learning and incorporated into school environmental curriculum. Our handy booklet has been included in community welcome wagon information.
